William Arnold "Bill" Babb, Sr.

William Arnold “Bill” Babb, Sr., 71 of Florence, peacefully passed away at the McLeod Hospice House on Friday, June 3rd.  He was born in Florence, SC to James E. Babb and Elizabeth A. Babb.

Bill will be sorely missed by his loving wife, Audrey Mae Babb and his two daughters, Victoria Babb and Melissa Bacon.  Preceding him in death is his son William “Billy” A. Babb, Jr.  Mr. Babb is also survived by his two brothers and two sisters, Barry Babb, Steve Babb, Babette Knight, and Dianne Anderson. Bill also leaves behind in his cherished family, four grandchildren, John William Bacon, Abigail Bacon, Eleanor Bacon, and Mary Caroline Bacon.

Mr. Babb graduated high school at McClenaghan High School.  After graduation he met and married his beautiful wife of 52 years and started his 30yr career as a supervisor at A&P in Kingstree, SC. All with a second career spanning 25yrs at Pepsi Cola Bottling Company from which he retired as the Parts Supervisor.  Mr. Babb was originally a member of the Florence Baptist Temple in Florence, SC. but later in life loved his Jimmy Swaggert Ministry.  Mr. Babb can be remembered as coaching baseball for many years with The South Carolina Dixie League.  Bill also spent many years volunteering at The West Florence Volunteer Fire Department. Bill also loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. It was said that he could grow anything and took pride in his yard and garden. Mr. Babb will be remembered as an extremely hard worker for his family, and a loving husband and father to his family.

The family will have a private visitation at his home on June 26th. The family will receive friends and family from 3pm until 5pm. Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Babb family.
