William Lonnie Hysong

William Lonnie Hysong, Sr., 78, of Florence, SC, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center.  Lonnie was born in Greensburg, PA, the son of the late James William and Mary Elizabeth Walter Hysong.  He served his country as a USAF Medic during the Vietnam Era and was employed for many years as an Allergy Tech with Dr. Harry S. Allen III.  Lonnie was a nineteen-year cancer survivor who lived life to its fullest by riding the open road on his motorcycle.  He rode with Rolling Thunder, CMA and the Patriot Guard and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.  He attended Central United Methodist Church and Newspring.

He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife, Mary Eaton Hysong, a step-son, Marc Alton Lloyd, a sister, Betty Jane Hysong Stillwel and brothers-in-law, Richard William Wager and Lonnie Stillwel.

Surviving is his life partner, Wynne English and her son Austin English; two sons, Paul Thomas (Kimberly) Hysong and William Lonnie “Lon” (Karen) Hysong, Jr.; step-son, Muldrow Donald (Kelley) Lloyd; two sisters, Donna Lee Hysong Wager and Deborah Susanne Hysong (David) Wilson; and a number of special grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a memorial service at 3:00 PM on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Central UMC.  They will receive friends from 2-3 PM just prior to the service at the church.  Cremation services are entrusted to Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Florence Area Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.
