William Henry Coleman

William Henry Coleman, 76, of Florence, SC, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at McLeod Hospice House after battling MDS cancer for five years.  He was born on August 14, 1943, in Dillon county to the late Daniel Lyde Coleman and the late Lura Dean Wallace Coleman.   He is also predeceased by two brothers; Daniel Lyde “DL” Coleman, Jr. and Robert Carey Coleman, Sr.; and his late wife, Rosa Huntley Coleman.

A private memorial service will be held at his home.

William graduated from Erskine College where he was a member of the golf team.  He worked for Stone Container and later was the owner and operator of Palmetto Auto Sales from where he retired.  He attended Gospel Temple of Florence and Market Life Ministries Bible Study.  He had a passion for playing golf and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his pets.

Surviving are his wife, Vickie Fyvie Coleman; two daughters, Rona Coleman Allen (Jerry) and Lura Coleman Marsh (Britt); two step-daughters, Debbie Moffat Matthews (Steve) and Grier Moffat Horstmann (Alan); step-son, Richard Huntley Howard (Lindsay), all of Florence; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; his aunt, Elizabeth “Lib” Coleman of Florence; three sisters-in-law, Shirley W. Coleman of Latta, Martha Jean Coleman of Florence; Jo Ann Lett (Joe); brother-in-law, Ralph Hughes (Dottie); and many nieces and nephews.
