Thurman Carlisle "Kyle" Robertson Obituary

Thurman Carlisle "Kyle" Robertson, 57, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 26, 2021.   Kyle was born on August 10, 1964, at McLeod Hospital in Florence, SC. He was a graduate of James F. Byrnes Academy and attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC.

Kyle's life experiences were many. He raced mountain bikes on both coasts, and he once worked as a bike messenger in Los Angeles, CA. For several years, he worked as a bartender at the original Margaritaville in Key West, FL. He was a ropes course instructor in Chapel Hill, NC, and he starred in and directed a cable access television show in Asheville, NC. While in Myrtle Beach, SC, Kyle worked as a physical trainer at Gold's Gym and was employed as a beach lifeguard at the ripe age of 40. For more than ten years, he worked with his father doing residential home inspections.

Kyle was a people person, and his wife often referred to him as her "social butterfly". He loved meeting new people, spending time with friends, and swapping stories -- especially over a cold Budweiser and a shot of Jack Daniels. He was proud of his heritage and never missed an opportunity to use his fine Southern manners.

With a knowledge of sports that would rival most ESPN announcers, he was an avid Clemson fan and could be found cheering for his Tigers during their many, many victories. He loved all sports, except soccer, and he participated in various school sanctioned and intramural sports throughout adolescence and beyond. He especially loved running track and at one time held several state track records.

Kyle enjoyed live music and attended many concerts throughout his life. He listened to all types of music -- from country to rock to jazz. His all-time favorite bands and musicians were Hank Williams, Lynyrd Skynyrd, KISS, The Clash, Jimmy Buffett, and Miles Davis.

Kyle was a man that held to his faith, loved his family, and cherished his friends. He was close with his mother and cared for her all the way up to his passing. He was proud of his daughters and enjoyed watching them grow up and experience new things. He absolutely adored his grandson and loved showing his picture and telling stories about him. He was head-over-heels in love with his wife which was evident to all who knew them.

Kyle was preceded in death by his father and best friend, Thomas Robertson, and his beloved dog, Dixie. He is survived by his mother, Gayle Robertson; loving wife, Krista Robertson; daughters: Devan Cessna, Brianna (Dustyn) Williams, and Olivia Cessna; grandson, Kaydan Warner; brother, Brennan Robertson; niece, Savannah Robertson; and uncles, Ronald Fowler and T.C. Fowler.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held the evening of September 11, 2021 at Circle Fountain in Florence, SC. Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Robertson family.
