Thaddeus Bethea "Teddy" Scurry, Jr.

Thaddeus Bethea “Teddy” Scurry, Jr., 74, of Florence, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at McLeod Hospital.  He was born in Florence County, SC, a son of the late Thaddeus Bethea Scurry, Sr. and Mary Frye Scurry Wise. 

Teddy attended Olanta High School and then entered the Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam Era.  He was an avid outdoorsman and a self-employed contractor. 

 Surviving is his brother, James William “Butch” Scurry and his wife, Robyn; his sister, Sandra Scurry Varner and her husband David; two nieces, Lisa Watford and her husband Lavone, and Veronica Huff and her children, Caroline Page and Wesley Huff. 

 In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by two wives, Cynthia Roberts Scurry and Debra Baker Scurry; two sisters, Cynthia Scurry and Cathy Scurry; and his step-father, J.B. Wise.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Free Will Baptist Church, 108 W. Clarke Rd., Florence, SC 29501.
