Robert Kenneth Hepler, 92, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, a son of the late William D. and Ellen Lohafor Hepler. Mr. Hepler was apart of our nation’s Greatest Generation having served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was a life-long member of Elim Baptist Church, helping with the additions to the church. Mr. Hepler was a member of the Masonic Hammerton in Lodge No. 332 A.F.M. He loved woodworking and fishing.
He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by his loving wife, Lillie Virginia “Jennie” Hyman Hepler and two brothers, Wayne Hepler and Raymond Hepler.
Surviving are his three children, Virginia E. Cercopely of Effingham, William R. (Barbie) Hepler of Timberlake, NC and Thomas W. (Amy) Hepler of Winnsboro, SC; eight grandchildren, Candice (Kevin) Ard of Florence, Brianna Cercopely of Effingham, Rob Cercopely of Effingham, Tonya C. Hepler of Houston, TX, Bryan (Kerri) Hepler of Holly Ridge, NC; Matthew (Emily) Hepler of Leasburg, NC, Tara Hepler of New York and Scarlett Hepler of New York and eleven great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 23, 2021 in the Chapel of Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. The family will speak to those in attendance following the services.
