Maurice Owens Obituary

Maurice Eugene Owens, Gene, 68 years old, of Florence, S.C., passed away at 12:11pm on Thursday February 8th. He was born in Ft. Knox, Kentucky to James Alfred and Renate Link Owens. He is predeceased by his Parents and brother, James Johannes Owens.

Surviving is a brother: Michael Douglas Owens, sister-in-law: Treva Dianne Owens, nephew: Michael Link Owens, niece: Brooklyn Danielle Danko, great nephews: Johnny Danko IV and Henry Atilla Danko, great niece: Dovie Joann Danko, Cousins: Wade Vanhoy and Christy Willis, life-long friend: Beth Warshaw, and adopted niece: Jenna Pearlstine.

Maurice was a skilled musician and tradesman, a " Jack of all trades". He was heavily involved in the local AA group, did a lot of service work, was president of the Twelve Step Service Club, Inc., a major part of Favor Pee Dee, Inc., and spent many years working with the Owls Nest Recovery Community. He recently received his 13-year chip and was a shining example of walking in a new way of life

A funeral service will be held Thursday February, 22nd at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home, for Maurices celebration of life. Viewing is 12-1pm and service is 1-2pm. Followed by burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
