Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Calcutt, 92, of Florence passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023. Lib was born in Florence County on January 1, 1931, a daughter of the late Luther James and Thelma Collins Calcutt.
She was a graduate of Pamplico High School and Florence Business College. She was a fifty plus member of First Baptist Church, Florence, SC, where she was a member of the Good News Sunday School Class. She served over the years on various committees, she taught the Primary’s and Junior’s Class and also served as Church Clerk and volunteered in the office. Lib retired from Commercial Credit, now One Main, with thirty-five plus years in various management positions, having worked in Florence, Charleston and Greenville Offices. During this time, she was affiliated with Credit Women International, and in Greenville, with the American Business Women’s Association.
She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by two brothers, James L. “Buddy” Calcutt and W.S. “Billy” Calcutt, a sister-in-law, Peggy Calcutt, two nieces, Mary Frances Calcutt and Ginger Calcutt Williamson and her best friend, Betty Clayton.
She is survived by a sister, Faye C. (Wayne) Gibbs; brothers, Willie Joe Calcutt, Bobby G. (Sue) Calcutt, G. Charles (Renea) Calcutt, Jakie O. (Carolyn) Calcutt, Luther Ray (Brenda) Calcutt, Rev. Randall “Randy” L. (Alice) Calcutt; two sisters-in law, Joan Calcutt and Elizabeth Calcutt; nieces, Angie Calcutt and Tara (Chad) Munn; nephews, Bryant (Shawn) Calcutt, Bentley Calcutt, Wade (Wendy) Calcutt, Kevin (Brenda) Calcutt, Brett (Mary) Calcutt, Cleve (Vaughn) Calcutt, Jimmy (Jennifer) Calcutt, Will Calcutt, Andy Calcutt, Rodney (Gaye Dawn) Gibbs, Lee (Jennifer) Calcutt, and Zac Calcutt; special cousin, Dollee Turner and her family; numerous great nephews and nieces, great great-nephews and nieces, cousins and good friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Beulah Free Will Baptist Church, Pamplico, SC with burial to follow in the church cemetery, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the services at the church.
