Mary Ellen Mitchell Holloway, 91, passed away, December 23, 2020 from complications of the COVID-19 Virus. Born in Sweetwater to the late Ed and Della Mitchell, she went on to marry the love of her life, Bill Holloway in 1950. Although she never had the benefit of a formal education, she was a successful business owner, operating several restaurants through the years, as well as overseeing the management of a campground in Gatlinburg. She was forever devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, always willing to sacrifice what was needed for their benefit. She enjoyed the outdoors and always loved working in the yard and tending to her beautiful flowers.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bill Holloway, sons Kenny Holloway (Jimmye Holloway) of South Carolina, Dana Holloway (Debbie Holloway), of Knoxville, grandchildren, Craig Holloway, Angie Henderson (Kevin), Jason Butler (Lorena), Heather Andereck (Steven), and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one of the Sweetest Angels in Heaven, Amanda Beth Holloway (Mandy). She is also survived by sisters Sarah Frances Lingerfelt, Lynn Jaynes, Vonteen Brown (Joel) and Carolyn Noble (Wade).
In lieu of flowers, she wished for donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Amanda (Mandy) Holloway’s name.
