Lila Marie Roop

Lila Marie Roop, 69, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.  She was born in Missouri, a daughter of the late Hershall and Jocie Hunt Powell.  She is also predeceased by her husband, Teddy Roop; a sister, Claire James; a brother, Harold Powell; and a grandson, Brandon Blake Brown.

Marie loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.  She loved having long talks with her best friend, Wilma and watching Blue Bloods and the ID Channel on TV.  She loved taking care of her dogs, fishing and playing cards, going to the casino and to Bojangles. She also loved to sew and was overall a very independent lady.

Marie is survived by two sons, Tommy (Gina) Brown of Florence and David (Jennifer) Brown of Ohio; a daughter, Linda (Richard) Melton of Florence; two granddaughters, Joni (Travis) Urquhart and Brooke (Justin) McElveen; five grandsons, Ryan (Amanda) Graham, Justen (Kriston) Brown, Daniel (Morgan) Brown, Taylor (Makayla) Brown, and Nicholas (Makenzie) Brown; nine great-grandchildren, Paisley Lynn Urquhart, Alaina Jayde Urquhart, Ansley Brown, Abby Brown, Anna Brown, Callie Lynn Brown, Jamie Marie Brown, Colton McElveen and Audrey Graham; and there are also two more great-grandchildren to be born in 2020, a girl to Daniel (Morgan) Brown and a girl to Taylor (Makayla) Brown; two sisters, Rose Harper of Missouri and Carol Haga of California; her good friend, Tom Richardson; and her long-time friend, Wilma Brock.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 15, 2020 at Mount Hope Cemetery.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Roop family.
