Karen Kay Strolin Hawley, 61, of Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. She was born in Sumter, SC, a daughter of the late Robert Francis Strolin and Elizabeth Iliff Strolin. She is also predeceased by her husband, George Frederick “Teddy” Hawley.
Karen was a proud grandmother and a loving mother, sister and wife. She was very determined, strong willed and a survivor of cancer. Karen was a caregiver and put everyone before herself. She grew the most beautiful roses.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Hawley (Patrick) Gale; son, Joshua John (Katherine) Hawley; grandchildren, Tyler Hawley and Natalie Gale; three brothers, Robert “Bob” (Audrey) Strolin, Jr., David B. “Bruce” (Helen) Strolin and William “Bill” (Gabriel) Strolin; two sisters, Kathleen “Kathy” Tyburski and Kristine “Kris” (Peter) Webster; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Celia Hawley; a number of nieces and nephews and her canine companion, “Gizzy”. A graveside service, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home, will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, face coverings are recommended and social distancing will be observed. The family will speak to those in attendance immediately following the service at the cemetery.
