John Lewis Latimer, 74, of Florence, SC, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021. He was born in Jefferson County, Ohio, the son of the late Arthur Lewis Latimer and Dorothy Alberta Rigby Latimer.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Angela Thompson Latimer; two daughters, Lisa Ann Latimer and Shelley Ann Rowley; grandson, Derek Rowley, granddaughter Caitlin (Matt) Rowley, great grandchildren Colt and Rylee; sister, Deborah Starr; two nieces, Debbie Starr (Rusty) and Jamie Sixx (Brian); and a great nephew, Elijah Sixx.
John was a second-generation residential contractor who started building with his father at the age of 13. He built houses in West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio and South Carolina. Another passion of his was cooking his famous barbecue and frying turkeys all of which he shared with neighbors and friends. Many of his Hampton Pointe Neighbors have said their mouths would water when he fired up his smoker. He loved nature, especially feeding his birds that he and Angie enjoyed watching from their den and he adored his fur babies, Tigger and Millie. He loved his Lord, his Family and his Country. He will be missed by so many whose lives he touched.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 7:00PM at the residence at 3266 W. Hampton Pointe Dr. Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Latimer family.
