John Lenwood “Len” Alexander, 86, of Scranton, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021.
Mr. Alexander was born a son of the late Estelle Curry Alexander and Marshall Beaty Alexander. He was an owner and retired licensed builder at Len Alexander Builders. He was a member at Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was a deacon for many years. Mr. Alexander served in the National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, John Christopher “Chris” Alexander, wife, Miriam Roberta Alexander, and siblings, Jesse Prosser, Ruth Wise, Clyde Alexander, Joe Alexander, Lucille Rodgers and Vera Dempsey.
Mr. Alexander is survived by his daughters, Sharon Stafford (Tommy) and Debbie Cox (Gene) both of Scranton, Brenda Hewitt (Charles) of Hemingway and Barbara Ann Dease (George) of Scranton and a special daughter, Wanda Collins of Summerville; nine grandchildren, Tonya, Miranda, Natalie, Frankie, Jennifer, Carla, Misti, Nicholas and Courtney; twelve great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. His hobbies were fishing, lake trips, chocolate milkshake dates with grandma, watching Gunsmoke and Jimmy Swaggart, and enjoying time with his family.
A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM, just prior to the services at the church.
