Jessie "Cricket" (Price) Hux

Jessie “Cricket” Price Hux, 87, of the Bethea Baptist Community, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023.  Cricket was born in Halifax Co, NC a daughter of the late Barry and Maggie Cooke Price.  She worked for many years with Holbrooks Jewelers and was a member of Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church.  She loved her family, pets, the Clemson Tigers and the Atlanta Braves.

She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Herman Lee Hux, Sr., a grandson, Herbert “Herb” Carol Redick Jr., a great-granddaughter, Savannah Rose Hux, two sisters, a brother and her canine companion, Major.

Surviving are her four children, Herman “Lee” (Sandra) Hux, Jr., Ricky (James) Hux, Sue Hux (Charlie) Jones and Cindy Hux (Herbert) Redick; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Diane Dorsey and her special caregiver, Georgia Johnson.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends following the services.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Bethea Baptist Retirement Community and Gentiva Hospice, especially Victoria, for the special care given to their mother.

Memorials may be made to the SC Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church.
