Hugh McKinnon "Mac" Allman

Hugh McKinnon “Mac” Allman, 75, of Florence, SC passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, May 21, 2021.  Funeral services for Mac will be held in the Mary Alice Ingram Chapel at The Manor, 2100 Twin Church Road, Florence, SC on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 2:00 PM.  Chaplain Dane Morehead will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the vestibule. 

Mac was born on October 22, 1945 in Liverpool, England.  He was the son of Stanley Francis and Florence Jean (nee Martin) Allman.  After serving in the British Royal Navy, Mac moved to the United States in 1968 and began his very successful career endeavor with the Telecommunications Industry, of which he retired in 2007.  He loved playing rugby. He was also a golfaholic and enjoyed playing many of the world’s finest courses.  Mac loved St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, Everton Futbol Club of the UK Premiere League, most European sports, and adopted the South Carolina Gamecocks. His greatest joy was watching his grandchildren participate in sports and other extra curricular activities.   

His career allowed him to travel not only the United States but the world. He lived in 17 different countries where he thoroughly enjoyed immersing himself in different cultures and meeting numerous lifelong friends.  This journey took him to South Africa which became one of his very favorite life experiences.  However, he never forgot the roots of his beloved United Kingdom.  

His final residence was The Manor in Florence, SC.  Mac touched many lives of both residents and staff.  The family will be forever grateful for the loving care and support he received during his time there.  He was truly loved by many.

Surviving are his son, Mark Sean (Jennifer) Allman of Addieville, IL and Marcia Erin (Bert) Winburn of Florence, SC; grandchildren Andrew Winburn, Madelyn Allman, Mallory Zimmer, Bryce Winburn, McKenna O’Neal and Ryder O’Neal; sister Jacquie (Patrick) Ridgwell of Upminster, England and brother Jack Young of Stirlingshire, Scotland, and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Carol Carr of Upminster, England and nephew Mark Ridgwell of Upminster, England.
