Henry Thad White

Henry Thad White, 82, of Florence, SC, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021 at his residence.  Thad was born in Timmonsville, SC, a son of the late Henry Dewey and Thelma Windham White.  He graduated from the Florence Business College and was a self-employed farmer.  He also was the owner and operator of White’s Trucking and White’s Truck Stop.  He was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and the Darlington Moose Lodge.  He loved all aspects of being with people, from riding to visit them, to telling stories with them and being the “center of attention”. He enjoyed fishing, boating and tinkering with things.

Thad is preceded in death in addition to his parents by an infant daughter, six siblings, Marvin, Hugh and Donald White, Katherine Ham, JoAnn Andrews and Loma Davis and a step-daughter, Sandra Cheryl Blackmon. 

Surviving is his loving wife of 51 years, Johnnie Jean Tisdale White; a son, Henry Thad “Chad” White, Jr. and his wife, Sherry; two grandchildren, Dr. Bonnie White DePaso and her husband, James Preston and Caroline Elizabeth White and her fiancé’, Kyle McLester; one great-grandchild, Sophia Caroline DePaso; a sister-in-law, Linda Tisdale, his canine companion, Betsy and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 22, 2021 in the Chapel of Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.  The family will speak to those in attendance following the services.
