TSGT Gerald Norman Gaskins, USAF retired, 85, of Florence, SC, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020. He was born in Hannah, SC, a son of the late James D. and Dora Evans Gaskins. He is also predeceased by a daughter, Sherrie Anne Gaskins and a grandson, Jason D. Gaskins.
Mr. Gaskins retired from the US Air Force, having served during Vietnam. After retirement, he served 10 years in civil service. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. Mr. Gaskins belonged to the Masonic Lodge, Pamplico Lodge #324. He enjoyed fishing and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him lots of joy.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Trebee Gaskins Gaskins; two sons, James Norman Gaskins (Teresa) and Nelson Ray Gaskins (Vicky); a sister, Dora Leon Gaskins Munn; eight grandchildren, Lesa Marie Mosier (Rod), Sara Thompson (Benji), David-Ray Gaskins (Staci), Danielle Hodge (Mitch), Stormy Smith (Morgan), Abigail Ellis (William), Anthony Daubs, and Courtney Griebe (Stephan); and sixteen great-grandchildren, Will, Addison, Drake, Bella Grey, Gauge, Ethan, Aiden, Ansley, Lindon, Reece, Mason, Charlie, William, Caroline, Hudson and Dayton.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Concord Baptist Church in Sumter, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 4:00 PM at Gaskins Cemetery in Hannah, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. COVID-19 protocols will be observed.
