George Allen Lee

George Allen Lee from Timmonsville, SC passed away peacefully on Friday, July 16, 2021 at the age of 84.  George was born in Florence to the late Warner and Rosa Hyman Lee.  He was one of eleven children.  George lived and worked all his life in Florence.  He was a member of the National Guard and worked as a mechanical supervisor with All Star Lanes until his retirement.

George never knew a stranger.  He was a huge family man that went out of his way to care and support everyone that he loved.  He loved spending time with his family, watching his westerns, taking care of his yard and pool and was a loyal Gamecock fan.

George is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Sylvia, his brothers, WL, Carl, Frank and Jim and his sisters, Kathryn and Linda.

He is survived by his four children: Cathy (Danny) Cook of Nebo, NC, Todd (Deanna) Lee of Myrtle Beach, SC, Dana (Jimmy) Banks of Clayton, NC and Phyllis (Tim) Holland of Florence, SC.  His eight grandchildren, Allecyn Griffin, Tyler Cook, Katelyn Clifton, Courtney Gates, David Holland, Chace Holland, Michael Lee and Brittany Lee, as well as his three great grandchildren: Ben Griffin, Claire Clifton and Ellie Gates.  One brother, Joe Lee of Charlotte, NC and three sisters, Mary Frances Lee, Josephine Gibbs both of Florence and Delores Ketchum of Tampa, FL.  He will be forever missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a church or charity of one’s choice.

George will be laid to rest with his wife in Anderson City, Georgia in a private service.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Lee family.
