Gary Jones Obituary

In Loving Memory of Gary William Jones

It is with heavy hearts and tearful eyes that we bid farewell to a remarkable man, Gary William Jones, of Florence SC. Gary departed this world on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the age of 72. Born in Waynesboro, Virginia, he was the beloved son of the late Charles "Charlie" and Edith Reynolds Jones and a dedicated husband to his surviving and devoted spouse, Linda Gail Garris Jones.

Gary's life was a testament to love, warmth, and unwavering devotion. He was not only a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, but a pillar of strength and kindness. His presence was one to be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed his path.

A man of faith, Gary was a dedicated member of the Palmetto Street Church of God and a frequent online attendee of the Effingham Church of God. Though he had retired from his professional life, for nearly 20 years, he embraced a full-time role as a loving grandfather, and that was a job he by far excelled at! Gary's true passion lay in the kitchen, where he masterfully created culinary delights that transcended mere meals; they were expressions of love. His delicious dishes were a reflection of that love for his wife, Linda and his children, Sarah Knicely (Kevin), David Jones (Alicia), Alison Simmons (Kyle), Anne Andrews (Richard), Shannon Berg (Darren), and Tiffany Martin (Derrick), his grandchildren, Dylan Berg, Mason Richardson, Blakley Richardson, Ashton Rambo, his niece Babbette Nelipowitz (Ken), his nephew CJ Frazier (Fallon), his adopted / extend family, Tom & Gloria Kasler, Tyler Bocks, Blakely Adams, Brady Johnson, Hunter, Alex & Dalton Strong, Hilton & Brighton Yates, Savanna & Caroline Martin, James, Amber & Kenzlee Kopp along with many other truly loved family members and friends. Gary’s legacy of love will be carried forward through them all. The sound of his laughter and the warmth of his embrace will be forever cherished by his adoring family.

Gary leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories, woven from the threads of love, laughter, and shared moments. His legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

The bond he shared with his loyal canine companions, Tara, General, and Bailey, was a testament to his kindness, as they, too, felt the warmth of his affection.

A memorial service to celebrate Gary's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home just prior to the service.

In this time of sorrow, let us remember the incredible life that Gary lived, the love he shared, and the profound impact he had on all of us. He was, and always will be, a shining example of warmth, caring, and love. May he rest in eternal peace, his memory forever etched in our hearts.  Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
