Frank Sturgill

Frank Sturgill, 85, of Florence, was called home after a several year battle with ALS on May 10, 2022.  Frank was born on February 15, 1937 in Wise County, VA.  He was happily married to his wife, Kathleen, for more than 60 years.  Frank was a longtime employee of United Coal Company in Grundy, VA.  After retirement, he displayed amazing talents in both woodworking and welding, but his true loves became being outside and meeting with friends every morning at McDonalds to tell tall tales.

Frank is survived by his wife, Kathleen, 2 sisters, 2 daughters, 1 son, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great great-granddaughter.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, and a grandson, Jacob.

A family led memorial ceremony will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church.  The family will receive family and friends from 2-3 pm just prior to the services at the church.  Cremation services are entrusted to Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.
