Dr. Timothy Allan Carter, 62, of Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House. He was born in Rocky Mount, NC, the son of the late Robert Lee Carter, Sr. and Betty Violet Keen Carter. He is also predeceased by his son, Timothy David Carter.
Tim received a Divinity degree from the Southeastern Baptist Seminary and then his Doctorate of Theology from Andersonville Baptist Seminary. He spent 25 years pastoring in North and South Carolina. He loved watching the “Andy Griffith Show”, loved hunting and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Libby Stroud Carter; three daughters, Laura (Joseph) Driggers, Karen (Kenneth) Rivenbark and Tiffany McCutcheon Carter; seven grandchildren, Logan Floyd, Landon Floyd, Kaelin Floyd, Chloe Carter, Seth Rivenbark, Sara Rivenbark, and Reid Rivenbark; and a brother, Robert Lee (Shari) Carter, Jr.
A funeral service, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Olanta Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, August 9, 2019, at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideons or to McLeod Hospice House.
