Devona Jill Smith

We regretfully announce the passing of Devona Jill (Mueller) Smith age 83 of Florence, SC, who passed away on March 16, 2023.  Jill passed away very peacefully surrounded by close family.

Brought into this world on February 13, 1940 to the late Arthur Rudolph and Devona Joan (Sommerville) Mueller of Cleveland, Ohio.  Jill was the loving wife to the late Bruce Martin Smith. She was a loving and dedicated mother of four. Served as a Junior Girl Scout Leader for three years in Pittsburgh, PA.  Jill belonged to St. Luke Lutheran Church in Florence and at one time was President of the Frieda Klaus Circle, Treasurer, Christian Responsibility and loved to make valentines for the sick and shut-ins with the Circle.  Jill enjoyed Bible Studies and created the subject reference project of “Where to Find What in the Bible”, which was shared with church members, family and others.  She also helped deliver alter flowers, provided food to those in need and assisted with other duties in the church.

Jill is survived by loving daughter Debbie Lynn Stroop (Jeff), Kim Noel Fetter (Gary), Wendy Ann Edgerton (Jack) and Cindy Beth Drew (David).

Grandmother of Joseph Bruce Smith (Meghan), Nicole Lee Smith, Victoria Ann Garner (Ryan), Lindsey Jill Edgerton, Trevor Jackson Edgerton (Pierce), David Bernard Drew (Mallory), Daniel Martin Drew, Lauren Elizabeth Drew.

Great Grandmother of Vincent Richard Smith, Alexander Joseph Smith, Tatum Jackson Edgerton, Amberle June Drew and Colton Jameson Drew.

Our family would not be what it is today without the love and support of this woman, who had a heart of gold.  She was a source of inspiration and will be deeply missed by everyone who’s lives she touched.

Private arrangements will be made at a later date.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Smith family.
