Daniel "Dan" Eugene Poston

Daniel “Dan” Eugene Poston, 75, of Florence, SC, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023.  He was born in Lake City, SC, a son of the late Ruby and Lee Allen Poston.  He is also predeceased by three brothers and a sister.  Dan was a graduate of Hanna-Pamplico High School.  He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam era.  He was a co-owner of Hyman Drug Company and later retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company.  He was a lifetime member of the Pamplico Masonic Lodge 324 AFM and Past Potentate of the Omar Shrine Club.  Dan was a member of Highland Park UMC for 33 years and was a former treasurer as well as serving in many other capacities on several other boards in the church. 

Surviving is his wife of 12 years, Melba Morris Poston; three step-children, Kimberly Poston Adams (Kinchen), Kennan Poston (Christy) and Tracy Scott Gandy (Vicki); one sister, Alice Bazen; one brother, Gerald Poston (Gloria); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and three furbabies, Tootsie, Nuggett and Sophie.

A memorial service, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home, will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Highland Park United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 7, 2023 in the Florence National Cemetery.  

Memorials may be made to the Florence and Darlington Areas Humane Society or to Highland Park UMC.
