Clarence E. Mahan, 97, of Florence, SC, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. He was born in Coffeyville, Kansas, to the late John Edward Mahan and Eva Nash Mahan. He is predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Maudie V. Mahan; four brothers and two sisters.
The Mahans were well known in the Florence area for their shop, Village Antiques, in Effingham. He was looking forward to his 98th birthday and enjoyed driving his red “chick mobile” until the very end. He was proud to be the oldest male member of the Fitness Forum.
He is survived by two daughters, Pat (Jerry) Vinson and Connie (Randolph) Butler; seven grandchildren, Jerry (Flo) Vinson, Jr., Mark (Janice) Vinson, Andrew Vinson, Annette Peeler, Kip (Leigh) Murphy, Mark (Amanda) Butler, and Michael (Christine) Murphy; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will speak to those in attendance following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church.
