Catherine Baxley Sessions, 80, of Florence, SC, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the McLeod Regional Medical Center. She was born in Rose Hill in Georgetown County, the daughter of the late Liston Butler and Anna Pearl Creel Baxley. In her youth she ran a Daycare center for many years and decided to go to Florence Darlington Technical College from 1983-1987 in order to become a registered nurse at the age of forty. She had a passion for taking care of seniors and developed a career serving at several nursing facilities, but loved working at the Bethea Retirement Community and the Active Daycare Center the most. She had a love of birds, big box Christmas’ the beach and lake, riding the golf cart and collecting light houses. Catherine loved her family and was full of joy, spunkiness and always had a twinkle in her eye.
She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by her loving husband of 57 years, Horace Clinton Sessions with whom she lost in 2021 and a brother, Jimmy Butler Baxley.
She is survived by her two daughters, Chanda Sessions Huggins (Darian) and Dayan Sessions Warner (Jay); a son, Clint Sessions; eight grandchildren, Taylor Sessions, Lee Huggins, Madison Warner, Jessica Sessions, Morgan Warner, Erin Huggins, Max Warner and Rachel Huggins; a great-granddaughter, Karsyn Sessions; friends who were like sisters, Willie Von Langley and Beck Stratton.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 – 12:30 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.
