Carlos Matthew Woodle, 85, of Florence, SC, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, January 30, 2021. He was a member of the Southside Free Will Baptist Church in Darlington. He was proud to have served his country as an Air Force veteran during the Korean conflict, and retired as the co-owner of the Cherokee Thriftway in Florence.
Born February 13, 1935 to the late Tracy Leon and Aileen Miller Woodle of Dillon County, he is survived by his wife of 65 years of marriage, Betty Hatchell Woodle, two daughters Carol Norman (Chris) and Angela Callahan (Dennis), and two grandchildren, Brandon Yarbrough and Kaitlyn Callahan. Surviving also is his sister, Hazel Bullard; and a brother, Bill Woodle (Trudy) and three additional sister-in-laws: Lois Woodle, Flora Woodle, and Betty Woodle; and a number of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers Gerald, Thomas and Harris Woodle and sisters Grace Jackson and Louise Bullard.
Carl was most known for always having a smile for everyone that he would meet. He never met a stranger and had a deep love for his family and his church.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 4 at 4:00 pm at Southside Free Will Baptist in Darlington. A visitation will be held from 3:00-4:00 pm in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
The family requests that all of those in attendance observe COVID-19 precautions of face masks and social distancing.
