Betty Lee Junkins, 92, of Quinby, SC, quietly passed from this world on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at her residence and entered into Heaven. Mrs. Junkins was born on December 14, 1930, in Marshall County, WV, a daughter of the late Clifford and Effie Fay Lilley Terrill.
She was a past member of the Triadelphia Methodist Church in Triadelphia, WV. In 1980, she moved with her family to Quinby, SC, where she became a member of Quinby UMC, a member of the United Methodist Women and formed the Quinby Garden Club. She retired from Sara Lee Hosiery. Betty loved working crossword puzzles with George, playing card and board games with her children and grandchildren, playing Scrabble and Dominoes with her friends, spending time at the beach, hosting vacations for family and friends at her home in South Carolina, visiting family in West Virginia and hosting banquets on the family farm, working in the yard, and studying her Bible.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Neuric Junkins, Jr., nine siblings Russell Terrill, Harold Terrill, Randall Terrill, Hazel White, Merle Brown, Bertie Orum, Deloris Ritchea, Ruby Kittle, and Virginia Cunningham, and son-in-laws, David Parsons and James Parsons.
Surviving are four daughters, Debra Faye Parsons of Wheeling, WV, Carol Lee Parsons of Triadelphia, WV, Dawn Irene (Joseph) Roeder of Viera, FL, and Bonita Sue (Harry) Smithey of Florence, SC; a son, Rodney Allen (Mia) Junkins of Florence, SC; 15 grandchildren, Amber (Matt) Hines, Shane (Lara) Parsons, Ben (Sherrie) Parsons, Charity (Bob) Parsons, Jimmy (Michelle) Parsons, Aimee (Dave) Menendez, Kilaine (Ryan) Parsons, Kaleigh (Brad) Parsons, Joel Roeder, Brandon Roeder, Zachary (fiance Emily) Junkins, Noah Junkins, Cody (Dr. Jordan Connelly) Smithey, Troy, and Ryan Smithey; 22 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Cain-Calcutt Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Quinby United Methodist Church directed by the Reverend Gerald Truluck and Cain Calcutt Funeral Home of Florence. The family will also receive friends and family at Kepner Funeral Home, Elm Grove, WV, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 and Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. with a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Halcyon Memorial Gardens in Marshall County, WV.
