Barbara Smith Obituary

Barbara Willard Smith, 81, of Florence, SC, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020. She was born in Spartanburg, the daughter of the late James Robert and Dorothy Louise Belcher Willard. She is also predeceased by her Husband, James L. Smith, Jr.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Wofford and worked with Spartanburg General. Mrs. Smith was named Who’s Who of American Nurses and retired after more than 40 years working as an RN for Bruce Hospital, which became Carolinas Hospital, which is now MUSC Florence Hospital. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for more than 37 years.

She is survived by her sons, James M. “Mark” Smith (Dawn) and Jeffrey Michael “Mike” Smith (Rebecca); and two grandchildren, James Robert Smith and Thomas Michael Smith.

A private Entombment will take place in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.
