Allan George Johnson entered eternal rest on July 26, 2020 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina.
The fourth of six children born on August 4, 1923, in the parish of St. Mary Jamaica, West Indies; Middlesex County.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary L. Johnson, parents, Mabel Duffus and Issac Johnson, and his five siblings: Stanley, Ambrozine, Edgar, Elcanah and Inez.
He migrated to the United States in the 1940’s to follow his dreams of becoming an Architect. He met his beloved wife at work, where they courted then married on January 10, 1959. From that union, they had three daughters: Zaradine Johnson, Jomel Johnson, and Valsena (Johnson) Summers.
He attended New York Institute of Technology for Architectural Design, in New York City. He worked for Chairmasters Inc. (Manufacture of restaurant and hotel furniture) for 30 years. Wood working was his hobby. Making custom furniture was his passion.
Allan was a devoted Christian where he lived his life through the word of God. He was an Elder of The First Presbyterian Church of Williamsbridge of the Bronx, New York. He was instrumental in the life of the church for 30 years. He served in many capacities in the church; An Elder, Chairperson of the Board of Trustee and Chairperson of the Men’s Organization. When he retired and relocated to Florence, South Carolina in the early 1990’s, he became an active member of New Harvest Presbyterian Church.
Allan will forever be remembered by his daughters, grandson, son-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A graveside service directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at First Thankful Fillybranch Baptist Church Cemetery in Estill, SC. You may stop by the funeral home to pay your respects to Mr. Johnson from 12:00 until 5:00 PM on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
