Rosa Mell Smith Parks

Rosa Mell Smith Parks, 90, of Darlington, SC, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019.  She was born in Charlotte, NC, a daughter of the late Gertrude Smith Wescoat and the late James Benjamin Smith.  She is also predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Parks, Jr., a son, James “Jimbo” M. Parks, six brothers and one sister. 

Mrs. Parks was a member of Dawsey United Methodist Church.  She was a woman before her time, being very independent and strong.  She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons, Charles A. Parks, III (Jean) and John W. Parks (Ann); daughter, Deborah Ann Parks Bryant (Randy); thirteen grandchildren, Natalie Greer (Jason), Summer Johnson (Chris), Jennifer Benehaley (Doug), Clint Parks (Laurie), Austin Parks (Christina), Matthew Dean (Lori), Sarah Parks, Jolynn Parnell (Keith), Cathy Danner (Eddie), Lee Parks, Lindsay Stevens (Scott), Brooke Parks and Tina Aikens; brother, Freddie Wescoat (Dottie); several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home, will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 9, 2019, in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Entombment to follow the service.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM in the Mausoleum Chapel. After the service, the family will be at the home of Natalie and Jason Greer, 2807 Alberti Drive, Florence, SC  29501.
