Maxie Sylvester Bazen, 75, of Pamplico, SC, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. He was born in Florence County, a son of Clarence David Bazen and Carolyn Hinds Bazen.
He was a member of Pamplico United Methodist Church. He graduated from Pamplico High School and Francis Marion University. He retired from E. I. DuPont, Florence Plant. He owned and operated The Olde Junque Shoppe in Hyman for thirty years. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
Maxie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice Marie Poston Bazen; one son, Michael Poston Bazen (Sandra Carraway Bazen) of Florence; two grandsons, Sidney Michael Bazen and Richard Allen Bazen; one sister, Sandra Bazen Cook (Charles) of Cookeville, Tennessee; one brother, Carroll Walton Bazen of Florence, SC; sisters-in-law, Karen Kelly, Linda Capps and Barbara Poston; brother-in-law, Johnny Poston, Gerald Poston (Gloria), Dan Poston (Melba) and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence David “Buddy” Bazen and Barry Hinds Bazen; two brothers-in-law, James Allen Poston and Larry Edward Poston.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 29, 2018, in the chapel of Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
