Marilyn Matthews Godwin

Marilyn Matthews Godwin, 72, of Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at her residence.  She was born in Florence, a daughter of Mary Keefe Stumpf and the late Odie Cleveland Matthews.  She is also predeceased by her husband, Sammie “Ray” Godwin.

 Mrs. Godwin was a proud graduate of South Side High School, class of 1964, and a member of the Florence Baptist Temple.  She worked as a medical receptionist at Florence Internal Medicine.  She loved decorating and redesigning her home and was an avid collector of knick-knacks.  She saw her greatest accomplishment as raising her kids and taking care of her grandchildren. 

She is survived by, in addition to her mother, her son, Mark B. Godwin (Chad Bulloch); two daughters, Amy Godwin Tinsley (Gary), and Amelia Godwin Kelly (Kyle); four grandchildren, Hanna and Olivia Tinsley and Kendall and Karson Kelly;  a brother, Terry Matthews (Mary);  sister and brother in law, Kay and Bill Lewis; and her niece and nephew, Wendy Campbell and Alex Lewis. 

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, April 20, 2019 in the chapel of Cain Calcutt Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.  A visitation will be held from 12:00 until 1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. 

Memorials may be made to Regency Hospice.
