Mack Burns Akridge, 86, of Florence, SC, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Pelham, GA, a son of the late Warner Jackson Akridge and Minnie Lee Cook Akridge. He is also predeceased by a daughter, Julie Akridge Hudson; three brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Akridge served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He then worked for 38 years as a machinist for CSXT Railroad until his retirement. He was a member of The Assembly, a man of God who loved to read the Word, a man of prayer. He was an avid gardener who loved sharing his bounty of produce with others.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances Marian Bruce Akridge; two daughters, Virginia Akridge (Bryan) Riportella and Carol Akridge Denham; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A church led memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at The Assembly, 2925 W. Palmetto Street, Florence, SC. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 PM at the church just prior to the service. A private Inurnment, with Military Honors, will be held at a later date at the Florence National Cemetery.
