Joy Streett Tedder, 93, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House. She was born in Eudora, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Julian Duvall Streett and Gertrude Griffin Streett. She is also predeceased by her husband, Charles Cooper Tedder, a sister, Jane Streett Gaughan, and a brother, John Bruce Streett and a grandson, Brooks Alexander McKay.
Mrs. Tedder was a library assistant and retired from Southside Middle School. She was a 60-year member of First Presbyterian Church. She was strong in her Christian faith and lived it daily with a servant’s heart. She was a very active member in her Sunday School and Women’s Circle group. Joy found great delight in opening their home to others; whether sharing meals, hosting Bible studies, or a good game of cards. She was a championship bridge player, a beloved activity that has been passed on to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Dawn Tedder (Danny) Mangum, Matthew Streett (Pamela) Tedder, and Amy Tedder (Johnny) McKay; six grandchildren, Kathryn M. (Rhett) Weeks, Rebecca M. (Tripp) Love, Zack Cooper Mangum, Rachel M. Wilder, Caden Cooper McKay and Jake Stevenson McKay; four great-grandchildren, Dak Mangum Weeks, Lucy Cooper Love, Ruth Tedder Love and King Wilder; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 14, 2019, in the chapel of Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM, at the funeral home just prior to the service.
