John Lerlie "Jack" Harrison Obituary

John Lerlie “Jack” Harrison, 88, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.  He was born in Norfolk, VA, son of the late John Achlie Harrison and Ellie Elizabeth Greer Harrison.  He is also predeceased by a son-in-law, Michael Snedden.

Jack served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He was retired from the 3M company and served as a Constable in South Carolina.  Jack was a member of First Baptist Church of Florence, SC.  He was a 50-year member of the Silver Spring Masonic Lodge #215, the Scottish Rite, a past President and Circus Chairman of the Shriner’s, and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters.  He coached little league football and was an avid rock hound; traveling around the country with his family going on digs for precious stones and fossils.  He lived a life full of joy, loved people, and never met a stranger. 

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Anne Turner Harrison; son, John (Sherry) Harrison and their children, John and Sarah, all of Austin, TX; son, Doug (Caroline) Harrison and their children, Turner and Madison, all of Columbia, SC; daughter, Laurie (Byron) Bishop and their children, Bronwyn and Arden, all of Holly Springs, NC; daughter, Beth Snedden and her children, Cheyenne and Arizona, all of Bradenton, FL; daughter, Becky (Matt) Duren and their children, Cody, Kayla, Ellie, Megan and Zack, all of Bradenton, FL.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 25, 2019, in the chapel of Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery with military honors and Masonic Rites.

Memorials in honor of Jack may be sent to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607
