Lt. Commander John Francis Quinn, US Navy (Ret.), 89, of Florence, SC, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Southland Nursing Center. He was born in Buffalo, NY, the oldest son of the late John Patrick Quinn and Lillian Eleanor Geary Quinn. He is also predeceased by his beloved wife, Betty McIntire Quinn, a grandson, Christopher M. Quinn, and two brothers, Geary (Ann) Quinn and Timothy (Joan) Quinn. He retired from the US Navy as Lt. Commander and was also retired from Florence Darlington Technical College.
Surviving are four sons, John Michael (Kimberly) Quinn of Cleveland, TX, Robert Nelson (the late Joylene) Quinn of Telford, TN, Timothy Joseph Quinn of Depew, NY and Patrick Anthony (the late Bonnie) Quinn of Clarence Center, NY; two daughters, Maureen Elizabeth (Allen) Quinn Rude of Pauls Valley, OK and Theresa Eileen (Bart) Quinn Horne of Florence, SC; three sisters, Mary Margaret (the late Tom) Sands and Dorothy Lee (Fred) Langdon, both of Buffalo, NY and Helen Marie (the late Fred) Roland of Hamburg, NY; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at St. Anthony Church with burial to follow at in the Florence National Cemetery, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
