Evelyn Hall Conner

Evelyn Hall Conner, 91, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Carolinas Hospital in Florence.  She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Rochel Blair Hall and Rebecca Wicker Hall.  She is also predeceased by her husband, Willard Jesse Conner. a grandson, Benjamin Jesse Conner, a sister, Mary Hall Kirby, and two brothers, Rochel Blair “Bud” Hall and LeGrand “Boss” Hall. 

Mrs. Conner graduated from Chuckatuck High School in Chuckatuck, VA.  She was in the 1st graduating class from the RN program at McLeod Infirmary School of Nursing.  After graduation, she worked as a nurse in Kingstree and Jacksonville, FL.  After her nursing career, she worked in real estate.  She was a long-time member of Evergreen Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and served on the finance and nominating committee.  She also was a member of College Park Baptist Church.  She was a member and president of the Pineland Garden Club. 

Surviving are her daughter, Connie C. Hudson (Archie); three sons, Willard “Bubba” Conner (Beverly), John Wicker Conner and Russell Vincent Conner; two grandchildren, Staci Poston (Jason) and Kristin Bell (Tim); five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.  A funeral service directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, December 17, 2018, at Evergreen Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 11 until 12 PM at the church prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the McLeod Foundation.
