David Jesson Obituary

David William Jesson, 71, 0f Florence, SC, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the McLeod Hospice House.  David was born in Somerville, MA, a son of the late Robert Charles and Dorothy Jane Ettinger Jesson.

David graduated from Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH. He received his BA from the University of New Hampshire, where he served as the Student Government President.  He was a recipient of the Hood Memorial Award as Outstanding Male Graduate of 1969 at UNH.  He served in the ROTC and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. David served his country in the US Army as a First Lieutenant stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington.  After the military, he went to work at Prudential Insurance Company.  David later worked at Boise Cascade Corporation in Stamford, CT. and then in St Louis, MO. He completed for the company, the Program for Management Development, an Executive Education Program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.  A Boise Cascade Corporation Division merger with Sonoco Products Company led the family to Florence, SC in 1988. He completed the International Management Development Program for Sonoco at the University of South Carolina College of Business Administration in 1994.  David was very involved in his sons’ athletics, having been a former president of the WF Booster Club and was a founder of the Florence Soccer Association.  He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. David was also an avid golfer and Gamecock fan who enjoyed cooking, fine wine, and less costly wine that tasted like grand cru.

Surviving are his loving wife of forty-six years, Thelma Inopea Regala Jesson; two sons, Matthew Regala Jesson and Christopher Regala Jesson; and a brother, Michael C. (Valerie) Jesson, niece Marissa Cohen (David), and nephew Casey Jesson.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Sunday, May 19, 2019, in the chapel of Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.
